Description: A reception celebrating Darla Barolini's Exhibition, The Classroom.
"My artwork explores the powerful symbolism of the classroom as both a space of growth and a reflection of societal structures. Inspired by the comic books I read as a teenager, this series captures a fabricated high school or early college classroom, filled with characters that are products of my imagination yet familiar to the viewer. Through these figures, I explore themes of connection, community, teamwork, and acceptance, while also delving into the apathy, isolation, and distraction that can pervade education. The vibrant, chaotic energy of the classroom invites reflection on the complexities of our learning environments and the broader issues within our society today."
