Description: Reception for Justin Varner's Hair of the Bird Exhibition.
Hair of the Bird is an exhibition using multiple mediums to create an environment that represents contemporary society through a curious and critical, yet entertaining pop-cultural and art historical lens. The exhibition displays a variety of personal interests, annoyances and guilty pleasures in the form of quick drawings, studies, transitional experiments and invested realizations. Inspiration is found in interactions and experiences in daily life as well as digital information fed through devices. Themes that appear are ones involving translations of neighbors and strangers, paranoid predictions of the future, nostalgic expressions of film, sports and toys, abstract investigations, and surreal reimagining of previous life events.
