About IDEAStudio Membership & Training
IDEAStudio is the makerspace at Houston Community College's West Houston Institute. We provide an open and supportive place where you can develop your creative mindset and skillset supported by digital fabrication technologies such as 3D printers, laser cutters, and CNC machines as well as traditional tools like drills, saws, and welders to take your ideas from concept to reality.
IDEAStudio offers a free membership program to all HCC students, faculty, and staff. To become a member, start by completing our online orientation process. You will be asked to review the member guide, complete a short safety quiz, and complete a liability waiver. The Makerspace Manager will send a welcome email once your membership has been activated.
IDEAStudio Members can sign up here for any of the free training sessions offered every semester. Tool trainings provide you with introductory instruction in the safe use of available tools in the makerspace. Once you have successfully completed a tool training, you can reserve time to come in and use the tool during our open member hours posted each semester.
