About West Houston Institute

The West Houston Institute is Houston Community College’s hub for innovation–reimagining and reinventing higher education through hands-on programming at our state-of-the-art campus. We deliver signature experiences that empower students, educators, and the community with the mindsets and skillsets that are essential for success today.

Design PRINT Build takes place at IDEAStudio, our 10,000-square-foot makerspace open to all HCC students, faculty, and staff. We offer training and support for using digital fabrication tools–including 3D printers, laser cutters, and CNC machines–alongside traditional tools in our woodworking and metalworking shops. IDEAStudio connects academic knowledge with real-world application, supporting deeper engagement through hands-on learning.
