Dr. Cynthia Lenton-Gary is Chair of the Houston Community College Board Trustees and Trustee for District VII. She was the first African American female to serve in city government for the city of Missouri City and the first African American woman appointed to the Fort Bend Independent School District (FBISD) Board of Trustees. Dr. Lenton-Gary has a master’s degree in Sociology from Prairie View A&M University of Texas, a doctorate in Christian Counseling from Newburgh Theological Seminary, and is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated.

Dorie serves as program officer for Goldman Sachs10,000 Small Businesses and One Million Black Women: Black In Business. She was most recently the Interim CEO with Venture for America (VFA), a non-profit fellowship for recent college graduates who are interested in pursuing entrepreneurship. Prior to VFA, Dorie founded, grew, and ultimately sold Of Mercer, an apparel brand for working women. She began her career as a strategy consultant at Deloitte, focusing on innovation and growth strategy. Dorie holds a BSE in Civil Engineering and Certificate in Visual Arts from Princeton University and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania
