This is a 48-hour design challenge in which HCC college students from across the district will use graphic design based problem solving skills to solve a real-world design challenge. Under the guidance of faculty mentors, students will receive design related training in ideation, Adobe software, and 2D printing and laser engraving while receiving feedback on their work. Over the course of the two day event students will create deliverables that will be presented to judges for a scholarship and cash prizes. Attendence each day is required to be considered for awards and raffle items.*

*Exception being if you are attending off-site at a sattellite campus. More details regarding satellite campuses TBA.

 

AWARDS
During the designathon there will be awards for each phase of the design process. Please note: Students who work as teams will share total award.

Phase 1 design
1st place: $600, HCC scholarship*
2nd place: $300, HCC scholarship*
3rd place: $200, HCC scholarship*

* The scholarships must be used during the Fall 2023 semester. Any remaining funds not used by December 31, 2023, will be returned to the HCC Foundation.

At the end of each day items donated by our generous sponsors will be raffled. Students must be present to receive items.

DAY 1: Draw & Design April 1, 2023

Welcome students, introduce client and design challenge. First half of day participants will create designs on paper, second half of day will consist of creating logo design in Adobe illustrator.
