HCC's Digital & Information Technology Center of Excellence invites high school students who are passionate about STEM to take part in a fun-filled summer camp to explore Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Robotics.

THE CAMP

This weeklong summer camp is designed to engage students from underrepresented and underserved communities, introducing them to cutting-edge technologies and pathways to high-impact careers in AI. Participation is completely free, and lunch is provided daily.

A REWARDING EXPERIENCE

Students will gain valuable AI knowledge and in-demand skills sought by leading companies and industries, laying the foundation for rewarding careers. Upon completion of the camp, students will receive guidance on career opportunities in high-demand technology fields, and support with college applications and pathways to workforce degrees.

AI EXCELLENT CAMP PROJECTS:

LEARN BY BUILDING

Project 1: AI-Generated Short Film

Students will create a 1 to 2 minute animated short film using tools like Azure OpenAI and Vibe.ai. From scripting to visuals and narration, they will explore the creative power of generative AI while learning prompt engineering, ethical AI use, and content evaluation.

Skills Aligned to AI-900 Certification:

Prompt engineering and content generation using Azure OpenAI

Understanding ethical AI, including bias and responsible use

Applying multimodal AI for storytelling across text, image, and voice

Project 2: Computer Vision Model Training on iPads

In this hands-on challenge, students will use iPads and the Co-ML app to train their own computer vision model. They will collect and label image data, train the model directly on the device, and test how well it recognizes objects in real time. Along the way they will see how everyday devices can become powerful tools for building and deploying AI.

Skills Aligned to AI-900 Certification:

Image classification and computer vision fundamentals

Data collection, labeling, and model training workflows

Evaluating model performance and responsible AI use

Project 3: AI Robot Navigation Challenge

In this hands-on challenge, students will train a Raspberry Pi robot to navigate an obstacle course. They will explore computer vision, model deployment, and real-time AI decision making.

Skills Aligned to AI-900 Certification:

Object detection and model training

Deploying AI to edge devices

Understanding AI workloads, ML pipelines, and responsible AI

WHY IT MATTERS?

The AI Excellence Camp is designed to give students practical, project-based experience aligned with AI-900 certification objectives. Through real-world applications, they’ll build confidence in using Azure AI tools and gain a strong foundation in AI principles, ethics, and future-ready skills.
