There is no dress code for the event, but guests are encouraged to dress in costume for our theme of "Prom Night." Maybe you're finally going to rent that powder-blue tux? Maybe your date will finally get you a matching a corsage for your dress?
As always, Bedichek-Orman auction proceeds support many worthwhile professional development opportunities for adjunct and full-time faculty at HCC – opportunities that in turn, impact learning and growth opportunities for our students. This year, a portion of the auction proceeds will be donated to the Joyce Roberta "JR" Miller-Alper Emergency Fund for Adjunct Faculty.

HOW TO GET STARTED WITH HANDBID FOR THE ONLINE AUCTION? |
The Bedichek-Orman Auction 2022 will be using HANDBID, a mobile silent auction platform which allows you to bid from your smartphone.
Step 1: To view items. Download the free Handbid App from Apple Store or Google Play Store.
Prefer to view on a web browser? You can access the online auction through a web browser.
Step 2: Tap Get Started and Create an Account. Once you have registered you will have access to our auction. You can save your credit card information in the app so that bidding and paying for any items that you win is just a click away!
Step 3: Select Auction from list and start bidding
Step 4: Payment. By credit card. A 3.5% + .30 / transaction CC Processing Fee exists for all transactions (winning bids) processed through Handbid. Handbid is FREE to use. You will only be charged for winning bids.
Step 5: Pick Up Your Items
If you are present at our Friday event, you can take your items home that evening. Items can also be picked up at the West Houston Institue the week following (exact dates and times TBA).
ONLINE AUCTION BIDDING TIPS
- Handbid will automatically bid for you up to the amount you choose. Select Max Bid and enter what you are willing to spend.
- Accept push notifications to receive alerts when you are outbid.
- Monitor your winnings and losing bids from your dashboard. Swipe left/right for categories and items. Select the menu (top left) for profile, alerts, and invoices.
- Review and pay your invoice from the app when the auction closes
START BIDDING
Whether you are bidding online or in the Handbid app, here are some easy tips to help:
- MAX BID: This is the maximum amount you are willing to spend for an item and the Handbid system will automatically bid for you until you reach your max. Set a max bid and enjoy your evening!
- NOTIFICATIONS: If you have downloaded the Handbid app and accepted push notifications, you will be notified when you are outbid on an item. If you don’t accept push notifications, you will receive text messages from Handbid.
- DASHBOARD: Monitor what you are currently winning and losing on the dashboard screen in your app or online.

Mobile Check Out and Picking Up Items
Once you have registered you will have access to our auction. You can save your credit card information in the app so that bidding and paying for any items that you win is just a click away! At the end of the night, you will receive an email or text with instructions on how to pick up your items.
