IDEAStudio is the makerspace at Houston Community College's West Houston Institute. We provide a place for students, faculty, and staff to create using the latest technologies such as 3D printers, laser cutters, and CNC machines alongside traditional tools like drills, saws, and welders to take ideas from concept to reality. Visit our website to learn more.
About Member Courses
We offer two categories of courses for IDEAStudio Members:
- Tool Training courses provide you with introductory instruction in the safe use of available tools in the makerspace. You must successfully complete training before you will be able to access any tool. Once you have completed a tool training, you are eligible to reserve time to come in and use the tool during our member or project hours.
- Design for Making courses introduce the basics for working with 2D and 3D graphics software to create for digital fabrication tools, like 3D printers and vinyl cutters. You will learn by doing through simple but practical projects that will prepare you to design your own creations.
